Operation Freedom

Each fall, from September 11th through November 11th, Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas repairs/rebuilds/remodels and/or rebuilds homes for deserving veterans and their families across North Texas. This is accomplished by using volunteer groups, contractors and donated materials. RTGD's purpose is to honor and serve those who have served our country, with support from Home Depot, Wells Fargo, USAA, Camden Properties, Firehouse and many more. We are proud to add First Responders and their families to the list of those served with this program this year. We are also very proud to have Bank of America as a supporter of Operation Freedom this year - Thank you BoA!
Operation Freedom got its name after meeting and helping Olga, a Veteran widow. She had been trapped in her home for over 3 years and was unable to leave without assistance. Often, her help would forget her. She would sit on the front porch on Sunday mornings and listen to the choir from a nearby church. Olga says that she prayed for someone to come along and help give her some freedom. With a group of volunteers, we were able to build a wheelchair ramp for her in one day! With tears streaming down her face as she took her first ride down her new ramp, she proudly exclaimed, "I'm free! Thank you for this wonderful gift."
